Dupree, Charles

26 May 1931 – 13 February 2017

Charles “Chuck” J. Dupree quietly entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 13, 2017 at age 85. Chuck grew up on a farm in Georgia, USA. After high school, he attended Georgia Southwestern and Asbury College.

He committed his life to Christian ministry at the age of 17 and followed that commitment to Japan five years later, in 1953, to serve with OMS (known today as One Mission Society). He returned to the USA in 1954, married P. JoAnn McClure in 1955, and after taking some courses at Asbury Seminary, the young couple returned to Japan in 1956. Two years of Japanese study in Tokyo followed, after which they ministered in northern Japan, later returning to Tokyo.

Chuck served in various capacities over the years: as a teacher at Tokyo Biblical Seminary, field treasurer for OMS, business administrator at the Christian Academy in Japan, and district missionary. After retiring from ministry in Japan in 1996, he served in various capacities at United Methodist churches in Kentucky and preached on occasion at the Lexington Japanese Church.

Additional information about Chuck’s life and ministry is located on the One Mission Society website. A full obituary has been posted by Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home.
